Arne Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it's expected for concerns to be raised about his future following another heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in 12 matches, representing the team's poorest run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got significant support from management,” the coach remarked.

“It's important to reverse this trend and secure a win naturally but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I sense the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Persistent Problems and Player Response

The manager highlighted recurring shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a spell of this nature with performances so bad.”

He concluded, “However we still have the emblem on our chest. And as long as that badge is removed, we’re always going to fight.”

“Our aim is to get this team back to its rightful place, prove again what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the top club in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
