Raducanu reached the third round in three Grand Slam tournaments Grand Slam events in the current campaign.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has withdrawn from the last two tournaments in 2025 due to a medical condition she has been battling in recent days.

The 22-year-old was scheduled to compete in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to rest and recuperate before starting next year's training.

These plans will include trainer Francisco Roig, as both individuals will keep partnering for the upcoming season.

Raducanu had her blood pressure taken while playing the initial match with Ann Li in Wuhan last week and retired when losing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She needed once more a visit from the doctor at the recent Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in round one.

She was also playing far from freely in the third set versus Zhu owing to back discomfort that has been a concern during parts of the season.

Such performances signaled a promising season, in which the player advanced into the international top 30 after more than three years since her previous ranking, ended with three successive defeats.

Raducanu had three match points before losing to Pegula in the third stage in the Beijing tournament last month.

The player achieved 28 matches during 2025 and advanced to the semis in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at March's Miami Open.

The British number one advanced to the quarters of a premier WTA event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way before losing in three sets to the world number four Pegula.

She was coached by trainer Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role ahead of the US Open.

The first plan with the former trainer of Nadal was for the remainder of the year but they will keep working together, with a training block pencilled in for the end of the year.

She mentioned that her three-day trial with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

She nearly succeeded to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in Cincinnati in August.

Roig joined her in the New York tournament, where she reached the third round then falling to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
