Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil represent the initial candidates under consideration to succeed Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Pereira was sacked on Sunday following the squad's ten-game winless beginning to the top-flight season.
And Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous links to the team - are part of the options to be evaluated by the club leadership.
The manager is presently at another club, which would pose a possible hurdle to his appointment at Molineux.
However the ex- Luton Town head coach - who made more than 100 of games for Wolves during his time as a player - is said to be a strong candidate for the vacancy.
The 42-year-old is said to have backing from the Wolves board as they start the search of hiring a new head coach.
Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a surprise candidate, although he would be a surprising appointment given he was released by Wolves in the previous winter.
The ex- West Ham player is out of work which means Wolves would not be required to pay any buyout fee.
