Paceman Atkinson Compounds England's Injury Worries.

'Significant concern' for England as Atkinson is forced off suffering a hamstring problem.

Gus Atkinson increased the injury concerns plaguing England after leaving the playing area during Saturday's play of the fourth Ashes Test in the Ashes series.

The right-arm seamer pulled up with his left leg post-delivery that he bowled during the morning session.

The England team stated Atkinson reported "discomfort" and was to take time away from the action for further assessment "over the next few hours".

The final Test of the tour in Sydney gets underway at the end of the week.

The visitors have previously lost strike bowlers one seamer to a knee injury and Jofra Archer with an abdominal strain on the current trip.

A replacement bowler was added to the party as injury reinforcement.

His form was underwhelming early in the series, claiming a mere three wickets.

He was dropped from the previous Test, only to be brought back for the Boxing Day match as Archer's replacement.

Atkinson performed better in the fourth Test, claiming a couple of wickets with the ball, and scoring 28 runs with the bat as one of just three English batsmen to get into double digits.

Following a brief spell at the end of day one, he came back the next day and dismissed the nightwatchman Scott Boland caught behind.

Yet, at the end of his spell, he bowled a change of pace to Travis Head and immediately felt for his hamstring.

Atkinson returned to the side for the Boxing Day Test having missed the previous Test.
