Soccer Analyst Sutton Battles Artist Olly Murs in Top Flight Predictions

Arsenal's ten-match victorious streak was ended by the Black Cats prior to the international break, but will the English top division frontrunners bounce back against north London rivals Spurs this weekend?

"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," stated soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this season - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still manage to win."

The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against AI, readers and a range of guests.

In week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.

Murs' latest album, the new release, is out on the weekend.

Football and Family Life

Olly is a skilled soccer player as well as a accomplished singer and has been a star of several charity football games down the years - but he is not planning a professional return as a footballer.

"{I actually played in a charity match the other evening for a friend of mine," he said. "My side was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I still love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it seriously again.

"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my child or son decides to play instead."

The singer and his spouse Amelia Tank have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their manager.

"I won't push football on our kids but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be managing their Saturday soccer side," he said.

"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly was involved with a soccer team for a while too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a child, which is likely where I inherited it. He coached our team for two or three seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues may have to wait a bit longer for their star's return from injury but their attack is already stronger with Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this game will be quite tight, however. Burnley are disciplined and their only home losses so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.

It smells of a one-all draw to me, but I am in fact going to choose Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third league win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

Olly's prediction: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have lost their previous couple games - although both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, the Hammers won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at home, they do look competitive again.

West Ham's sole away victory this season came at Nottingham Forest in August, when West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo was previously that team's manager.

Therefore, what exactly do I predict here - can West Ham extending their streak under their manager, or the home side responding?

I am going to go with the Cherries, because I believe what occurred against Villa was a anomaly.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

Olly's outlook: Bournemouth are doing well but the visitors have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were seen as one of the favourites for relegation before the season began, but they have surprised a several people under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three wins in their past four matches.

A family member advised me to select Bees striker Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks ago and, guess what, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will likely find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or back the away side at Brighton's ground.

They have not had much success on the travel this season, and the Seagulls are always strong at their stadium. Brentford will attempt to attack on the counter-attack but I think the home manager's team pose much more of a threat.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

The singer's prediction: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a lot of goals but it actually proves to be rather close. 1-1

AI's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a huge fixture for Fulham, who have lost five of their past six games.

They have have lots of quality in their team but it nonetheless seems like they could be dragged into a relegation fight.

As for the Black Cats, well they are the unexpected success of the Premier League season so far.

Their display in the two-all draw with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not seen anyone else disrupt the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing to do to support the visitors here, because they are obviously able of disrupting the hosts up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they beat Chelsea at the end of last month.

But I am not going to choose that. Instead, I truly need to carry on going against Sunderland with my predictions. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their good results because they evidently love to prove me wrong.

Considering Fulham's home form, the sole team they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's side will be extremely eager for a good result, so I am going to predict they will secure three much-needed points.

The expert's prediction: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I know Sunderland are performing strongly and additionally that Fulham are on a poor streak... but Fulham have nonetheless been respectable at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

AI's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a tough one to predict. The Reds have suffered seven of their past 10 matches in every tournament, but might they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
