The Streaming Platform is Producing a Far Cry TV Show from the Producers of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The newest Far Cry game that gamers dived into was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. As a series, it has a reputation for celebrating action and mayhem with similar enthusiasm, all while weaving gripping, socially charged stories. Little surprise that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry seasonal program pulled in two creators whose work have exemplified all of those things.
What to Expect
Adapted from Ubisoft's popular video game series, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' style by having a fresh setting and cast of characters in every instalment.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as lead producers on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared outstanding partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this popular property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also appear in the show, but as of now, we do not know what character that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new overall deal with the producer.
“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, trusting us with one of the most iconic video-game realms ever created. And through it all, my FX family always encourages me with their ongoing confidence and backing.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style show. Each game is a take of a idea, the same way every run of Fargo is a adaptation on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To produce a epic action show that can change from season to season, while always delving into the core of society through this multifaceted and turbulent viewpoint, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and bring our shared irreverent, visionary style to the audience.”
A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
